COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course moves beyond basic material presented in PT 533 – Intercultural Studies to focus on issues that present complex, vital challenges to those who minister among Muslims. Among these are responding to Islam’s theological, social, and cultural dynamics. This includes the extent to which the use of “Muslim” symbols and ceremonies in disciplining believers who have come from Islam can be considered legitimate. The church’s reluctance to respond to Muslim convert needs and mobilize seriously for outreach continues to be an issue. Questions involving women and Islam are critical as is the development of suitable strategies for wholistic ministries that are culturally sensitive.
